An Uber passenger was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting this morning in Grand Crossing, a neighborhood in the South Side of Chicago.
The passenger, a 34 year-old male, was sitting in the back seat of his Uber when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. Chicago Police report that the incident occurred at 2:10 a.m. on the 7400 block of South Stony Island Venue.
The Uber driver, unharmed, drove the passenger to Jackson Park Hospital where the passenger was pronounced dead.
Chicago Police are still investigating the incident. Shell casings were found at the scene. As of this morning, the Uber driver’s car is still at the hospital and remains under police guard. There are no suspects in custody and the motive for the shooting has not been determined.
